CLIMATE ACTION
We are committed to taking concrete action for the climate by aligning our contribution with our environmental impact across all the products we offer at Tradifood.
1. MEASURING:
We have carried out comprehensive calculations of greenhouse gas emissions for our entire product range, in collaboration with Zero Mission, a trusted climate consultancy.
2. REDUCING:
We collaborate with our suppliers to minimize the carbon footprint of their production through sustainable, co-developed solutions. These include logistics optimization, R&D on animal feed, responsible energy resource management, etc.
3. REMOVING:
We climate-finance 110% of our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions through the Plan Vivo–certified Paskaia climate project in Honduras, in partnership with ZeroMission. This collaboration contributes to carbon sequestration, community development, and the preservation of natural ecosystems.
PASKAIA PROJECT (Honduras)
Building a Sustainable Future
In the Mosquitia region of Honduras which is the second-largest rainforest in the Americas after the Amazon, the Paskaia project — Paskaia meaning 'building for the future' in the indigenous Miskitulanguage — is bringing new life to a fragile ecosystem threatened by deforestation and fires.
Led by local communities in partnership with Swedish researchers, the initiative focuses on long-term, sustainable land management while ensuring strong involvement from all segments of society, particularly women, young people, and other marginalized groups.
Since 2018, almost 1,600 hectares of savannah are being reforested with over 3 million trees, ultimately leading to the sequestration of around 400,000 tonnes of CO₂. To make this possible, grasslands are protected from the wildfires that sweep through several times a year. When fires are kept at bay, young trees regenerate naturally, and this natural regeneration is complemented by enrichment planting.
A project of hope that combines biodiversity conservation, climate action, and community development — continuing to expand for a sustainable tomorrow.

PASKAIA, a project rooted in people
In 2025, Tradifood has decided to climate-finance 110% of its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions through the Plan Vivo–certified Paskaia climate project in Honduras, in partnership with ZeroMission. Carbon credits can feel confusing and hard to grasp. Different terms, praise and criticism regarding "greenwashing" fly around from every direction. We want to make it clear how Paskaia work together with local communities — making a real difference for both the climate and the people who live here.
To prevent wildfires, PASKAIA works hand in hand with the Miskito people. After watching their forests disappear for generations, they longed to see the woods return — even when few believed it could happen. For many Miskito people, marginalized for generations, joining Paskaia’s fire brigades has meant their first stable income — and a renewed sense of purpose. Their mission: to protect the young trees by creating firebreaks and fighting fires before they spread.
319 families now have gained jobs, and their forest is coming back to life!
La Mosquitia has almost no roads, and during the rainy season, the dirt track leading to the project area often vanishes under water. There’s no electricity in the countryside — but Paskaia has changed that by building two community hubs powered by solar panels and batteries.
Now, people can gather in the evenings, read by lamplight, and charge their phones. Thanks to these solar panels, Paskaia has also brought satellite internet to the area. In Tipi, there’s no mobile signal — only on a small hill a few kilometres away might you catch a message if the wind is right.
